Job Title: Lead Driller (Cable Percussion)

Salary/Rate: £30,000 - £35,000

Job Description:

Due to continued and sustained growth in the UK, and a significant increase in workload, our client is now looking to recruit a Lead Driller (Cable Percussion). Reporting to the Regional Drilling Manager, you will be based from their Yorkshire Depot, and joining an experienced and enthusiastic team of staff delivering drilling and ground investigation services to a wide ranging client base across the UK.

 

The Lead Driller will primarily be responsible for safely setting up and advancing cable percussion boreholes, carryout in-situ testing, installing monitoring wells and backfilling boreholes in accordance with the specification provided by the Client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply to all Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies and site specific EH&S requirements at all times
  • Responsible for the health and safety of the drill crew and other operatives and sub-contractors who may be operating within the drilling area controlled by the Lead Driller
  • Attend inductions, training and EH&S meetings as and when required
  • Attend and successfully complete necessary health and safety training required to deliver projects safely
  • Work with project managers and site engineers to ensure field work is delivered safely and efficiently whilst maintaining high quality standards
  • Produce site records including, but not limited to; daily drilling logs, pre-start drilling rig checks, one minute risk assessments, vehicle and tachograph records
  • Undertake ground investigation utilising cable percussion drilling in accordance with the appropriate specification
  • Complete in-situ testing and sampling in accordance with the requirements set out in Eurocode 7 and British Standards
  • With the assistance of the Driller, carry out routine and preventative maintenance, including regular cleaning of rig and vehicle, as and when required.  Ensuring the maintenance and appearance of the drill rig and vehicle is kept to a high standard
  • Undertake other general labouring duties e.g. erecting fences, general reinstatement, light instrument monitoring, delivery of consumables, hand dug inspection pits and collection of samples

 

Role Requirements

 

  • Full Clean UK Diving License with ability/licence to tow desirable
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Level 2 NVQ in Land Drilling (Preferred)
  • Mobility, flexibility and commitment
  • Excellent awareness of Health & Safety
  • Work on own or as part of a team
  • Organised and motivated
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Keep accurate, legible records of work / tests carried out
  • Forklift experience and licence, desirable but not essential
