Job Description:
Due to continued expansion and the commitment to sustained and profitable growth, our client now wishes to appoint a highly motivated and industry experienced SAP for their South West and South Wales regions, covering underground cabling, OHL, sub-stations, connections, switchgear and associated infrastructure works. You will be joining a welcoming and collaborative team of experienced Fitters, Jointers, Engineers and fellow SAP’s who are passionate about supporting each other, and our client’s customers, covering an exciting range of HV projects. You will carry out LV & HV switching, isolation, earthing, SFT, identification of the point of work, and issue of safety documentation duties and project management on construction and asset replacement contracts. You will also be responsible for all aspects of operational duties, creating switching schedules and methods of work, and control and monitor all electrical construction and maintenance work on HV/LV networks up to 11kv and sometimes 33kV. Ensuring power distribution is maintained, you will be the delegated lead electrical person in cases of emergency and power restoration.
The Role
- Plan outages and produce switching programmes and liaise with System Control
- Make dead, isolate and earth high voltage electrical networks
- Identify and release apparatus to be worked on by issue of Safety Documents and PTW / SFT
- Carry out high voltage testing and fault location
- Manage and supervise Jointer and Fitter teams
- Safety will always be your priority and therefore always adopt and promote the core value of safety
The Person
- Authorised to conduct switching operations to a minimum of 11kV (up to 33kV is ideal but not essential)
- An excellent attitude towards safety and operational excellence
- Technical knowledge of HV switchgear and associated plant
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to lead a team
- Knowledge of current regulations, standards, and codes of practice
- DNO experience and authorisations would be advantageous
- Experience of writing switching plans and maintenance schedules
- Proven experience working within multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Deep commitment to safety in all aspects of work, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and protocols in the power industry
- Hold a valid driving license, as the role will require traveling to clients and sites etc
