Client Description:
Our client is a renowned and market leading specialist civil engineering, pipeline and utilities contractors offering in-house technical expertise in a number of specific areas utilising a variety of methods. Our client covers a wide array of service offerings including (but not limited to); high voltage cable installation and jointing, on and offshore pipelines and underground cabling networks, trenchless installation, cable burial for onshore and offshore windfarms, and marine outfall - landfall pipeline construction and renovation.
Job Description:
This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with a strong technical background and demonstrable experience in the management and successful delivery of contracts in the cabling, pipelines, trenchless technology or horizontal directional drilling (HDD) sectors.
Due to the recent award of a major project, our client now wishes to strengthen their operational team with the appointment of an experienced Project Manager on a fixed term contracts basis. The main purpose of this position is to liaise with and support the Operations Manager to coordinate the safe management and successful delivery of project works, whilst controlling site activities and ensuring HSEQ, programme and budget requirements are achieved. You will lead and drive works to progress in accordance with the contract programme, to the best commercial advantage and without prejudice to the health and safety of employees, sub-contractors and the public, whilst also taking into full account all environmental considerations.
The Role
- Manage the coordination of project works, to ensure communication between all stakeholders, including suppliers, subcontractors, engineering, safety and environmental teams and clients, is successfully accomplished
- Build, develop and manage teams to deliver all aspects of project requirements
- Identify training requirements and review the performance of the workforce, and ensure delivery of required briefings
- Provide, monitor and control resources, labour plant and materials to meet programme
- Manage sub-contractors and directly employed workforces
- Ensure high standard of quality to meet project and client specification requirements
- Assist engineering teams with work plans and outputs for production of method statements and programmes
- Ensure accurate, legible and up-to-date allocation sheets are recorded and provided at shift close, with delivery tickets and plant returns issued to the engineering and commercial teams
- Ensure all records for example inspections, works permits and briefings are up to date and in place
- Carry out regular safety and environmental inspections and implement recommended courses of action as identified from progress monitoring and management audits
- Maintain full and accurate daily site reports, including any changes or variations, subcontractor attendance, and records of work related discussions with the client, designers, RE or the project team
The Person
- Relevant qualifications and vocational training, and a proven track record of successful project delivery at a comparable level of seniority within a similar sector (utilities, pipelines, heavy civils, onshore / offshore cabling or power, HDD or trenchless technology etc)
- Understanding of construction management related principles and processes
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience covering a wide range of project techniques and best practices, including CDM regulations
- Relevant CSCS and accompanying competencies
- Training in or experience of HSEQ management
- Basic computer competence (MS Office, Word, Excel etc)
