This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with a technical background and demonstrable hands-on experience in the specialist drilling sector.

 

Due to continued growth and a significant forward order workload throughout the UK, along with the genuine desire to push the boundaries of industry excellence and to retain their advantage in a highly competitive market, our client wishes to appoint a Drill Rig Operator offering demonstrable senior level experience from within the industry.

 

You will join a dedicated team covering complex borehole drilling and grouting projects working in challenging and often inhospitable environments and conditions. You will take full accountability for all daily HSEQ, site works, setting up and laying out bore fields, working to designs, advancing boreholes, leading drilling operations, and installing then grouting of all boreholes. You must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of site or project works specifically within any area of the above-mentioned sectors, with sonic and rotary drilling expertise being essential.

 

The Role

• Operating Casagrande C8 drill rigs on busy HS2 sites
• Adhere to working instructions as specified internally from Engineers, Project Managers and Supervisors
• Follow all HSEQ requirements
• Provide all required paperwork, namely, drillers logs, equipment inspection sheets, pre-start rig checks, progress reports and timesheets on a weekly basis for approval
• Maintenance of drilling equipment, small plant and tools
• Check levels and greasing of drill rigs and associated equipment
• Set up rigs and masts at the correct position and correct angle
• Supervise and coordinate any Second Men or Assistant Drill Rig Operators
• Control all data logs to ensure accurate and timely recording of drilling activities

 

The Person

• A demonstrable understanding of various project or site-based techniques, with the ability to use and operate complex drilling and grouting rigs and machinery
• Manage all aspects of drill rig operations, including the movement of equipment, site set up, and procurement of materials or consumables etc
• Reading and understanding of site or project specifications and layouts
• A good understanding of adopting varied techniques pertaining to ground and site conditions, including drilling, bore hole logging, rotary, and sonic drilling
• Previous experience of using Casagrande drill rigs or similar
• A valid and in date CSCS and CPCS (above 20T)
