Job Description:
This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with a strong technical background and demonstrable experience in taking the lead on a range of piling or foundations engineering sites, projects, contracts, and operations.
Due to continued growth and a significant forward order workload throughout the UK, along with the genuine desire to push the boundaries of industry excellence and to retain their advantage in a highly competitive market, our client wishes to appoint a Senior Supervisor offering demonstrable senior level experience from within the industry. Reporting to the UK Group Operations Director, the main purpose of this role will be to take responsibility for leading all aspects of site-based operations and contracts. The role will provide support to the main board and will operationally control all works. This will be successfully achieved through effective management of multiple teams, operations, and rigs, with a clear focus upon maintaining net margins and a high level of staff satisfaction, whilst providing regular progress and general project reporting.
The Role
- To supervise, lead and deliver sites and contracts through effective operational management
- Delivery of project deadlines in a safe and timely manner, whilst maintaining a high level of client satisfaction and team morale at all times
- To direct works with a hands-on approach to the daily activities of contracts and projects
- To develop and implement plans for the success of all projects, ensuring that goals are either achieved or bettered with an emphasis upon service delivery, therefore effectively managing all operational activities
- To act as a focal point and leader for operations, steering and guiding contracts forward, ensuring total client commitment, coupled with increasing service levels and client focus
- Working with the commercial team to ensure effective resource and budget allocation and management
- Establish and lead regular review meetings with the staff to develop a proactive focus upon project safety, quality, personnel, labour, resources, rig and equipment management, scheduling and programming
- To build and maintain a spirit of teamwork and cohesion between all levels of staff
- To establish and direct regular meetings with staff to discuss progress as well as providing the directors with reports, and liaise with other Senior Managers in regard to operating policy and project deliverables
- Report to the Directors on ongoing issues keeping them informed of any potential project problems that could affect the business
The Person
- To have a proven track record in a hands-on leadership or management role, operating at a senior level from within a recognised piling, foundations or ground engineering contractor
- To have run contracts and site operations with a diplomatic and pragmatic approach, coupled with a hands-on attitude to clients, sub-contractors and people management
- To possess senior level leadership and management experience, therefore able to demonstrate a tenacious, lead from the front approach to delivery
- You will offer proven experience in a variety of piling and foundations disciplines
- Possess an excellent understanding of the operations process, along with the ability to manage and develop sites both technically and commercially
- A general awareness or understanding of foundation design
- Ability to join an existing and established business and team, and lead all aspects in a positive manner with enthusiasm and drive
- A motivator and manager of others who is able to evaluate problems or issues and offer appropriate solutions
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being able to relate to individuals at all levels in an organisation, and to establish and maintain respect both professionally and personally
- A strong and supportive character able to guide, evolve and steer sites and teams forward
- Should be robust and resilient, possessing drive, determination and natural enthusiasm, as well as being a team player and leader
- Must have excellent time management skills, being able to effectively prioritise and delegate against deadlines
- Open to new ideas, not set in your ways, and able to think laterally
- A balanced approach to relationships with colleagues, staff, clients and suppliers alike
- Forceful and persuasive but able to listen and communicate effectively
- Must be loyal to the company and the Group
