Job Title: Geotechnical Contracts Manager

Job Description:

Due to continued growth and a specific focus on expanding the ground improvement / vibro market, our client is now looking to appoint a Contracts Managers to operationally assist and lead in the development and delivery of projects and operations. Applications are invited from professionals within any of area of the ground engineering industry as a whole. You will also focus upon maintaining net margins and a high level of client satisfaction, as such, a dynamic, self-motivated and adaptable individual is required.

 

The Role

  • To lead the development and management of contracts and operations with a hands-on approach to the day-to-day activities of the business
  • To develop and implement project plans for contracts, ensuring that all goals are either achieved or bettered with an emphasis upon service delivery; and to effectively manage all activities with regard to operations, construction, staff, quality, health and safety and resources
  • Act as a focal point for the client, steering and guiding contracts forward, including input into tenders and designs, ensuring full client liaison and development, coupled with moving the business ahead by increasing service levels and client focus
  • Working with the commercial team to ensure effective cash flow management and producing accurate progress / project reports on time
  • Lead and chair site / project review meetings with staff in developing a proactive focus upon quality, overheads, manpower, programming, organisation and delivery aspects
  • Manage the supply chain and sub-contractor partnering process, as necessary, to improve upon existing terms if possible
  • Manage your assigned teams to ensure a high level of cohesion between all levels of staff
  • To chair and lead regular meetings with staff to discuss progress, and to liaise with other Senior Managers within the Group with regard to operating policy and opportunities for future work

 

 

 

The Person

 

  • Possessing a proven track record in a management role from within any area of the ground improvement / engineering sectors
  • To have taken the lead in the development and delivery of contracts and operations with a diplomatic and pragmatic approach, but also with a hands-on attitude to clients, sub-contractors and people / team management
  • To have had first-hand exposure to various technically complex / challenging piling and ground / geotechnical engineering contracts, therefore able to demonstrate a tenacious, lead from the front approach, and to have previous experience of working in a client focused environment
  • To have experience of a variety of schemes, including multi discipline piling and ground / foundations engineering techniques
  • Must possess an excellent understanding of all stages of the contracting process, including design and estimating, coupled with the ability to manage and develop yourself both technically and commercially
  • Good levels of experience at pre, in-situ and post contract stages
