Job Title: Structural Technician

Job Description:

The civil and structural engineering teams across the Midlands regions have a strategy to grow significantly over the next three to five years, and thus have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Technician to join the design team in the Midlands.

 

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience and technical expertise in a range of civil solutions and service offerings. The successful candidate will be expected to work with limited supervision, preparing technical design information and written inputs to technical reports to deliver engineering solutions for a diverse range of projects. The work will cover sections of infrastructure, highways, earthworks, remediation, surface drainage, SUDS and sewerage. These services will be applied to residential, commercial, employment, retail and industrial schemes both within the public and private sectors.

 

Role & Responsibilities;

 

  • As a key member of the design team, responsible for the delivery of a wide range of development projects
  • Assisting with the preparation and understanding of structural engineering drawings at all stages including concept, tender and construction
  • Working with engineers to translate and outline engineering proposals to detailed design drawings, understanding the relationship between the project disciplines
  • Managing the delivery of individual tasks or activities to programme and budget
  • Taking part in key project control procedures such as drawing issues and registrations
  • Carrying out site inspections and surveys
  • Working with fellow technicians and engineers to translate outline engineering proposals into detailed models and designs in accordance with relevant design standards and codes

 

Role Requirements;

 

  • You will have demonstrable experience as a design technician, preferably within a consultancy environment
  • The right candidate will have a relevant engineering qualification e.g. HNC, HND, BTEC in Construction/Built Environment
  • Although not essential, a formal qualification in the use of REVIT would be an advantage
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of R.C Detailing to British Standards and Eurocode
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Relevant industry experience, with direct emphasis on buildings and structural engineering
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships and undertake effective business development
  • Highly proficient time management and organisational skills with the ability to meet challenging deadlines
