Job Description:

This challenging and exciting opportunity, requires an individual with a strong health and safety background, ideally within any area of the utilities, power distribution or M&E industry

Due to continued growth and the award of a number of significant, long running framework contracts across the UK our client wishes to appoint an experienced SHEQ Advisor to work within the power distribution division. You will be working on a variety of electrical projects (LV / MV / HV), including OHL, underground cabling, substations and connections etc. this will largely be for UK DNO clients, National Grid and also private network operators.

The Role

  • Actively support and communicate SHEQ matters across the power distribution division at all levels, both on and off site
  • Determine contract compliance against the divisions SHEQ strategy
  • Ensure delivery of SHEQ initiatives and communications
  • Foster the development of SHEQ skills within the Contract / Operations teams
  • Support the SHEQ Manager to deliver SHEQ responsibilities for the division
  • Support the SHEQ Manager to produce policy and procedural documentation
  • Assist with supporting of all SHEQ matters including processes and procedures
  • Undertake inspections / audits of contracts and identify areas for improvement
  • Provide SHEQ advice and support to operational personnel with the division
  • Delivery of training courses, initiatives and events
  • Communicate regularly with the Electrical Projects SHEQ Manager regarding issues identified, both with internal teams and clients
  • Assist with audits by internal and external bodies
  • Assist with Incident and Accident investigations and provide Root Cause Analysis reports as required
  • Attend meetings as and when necessary to assist with electrical projects SHEQ management
  • Participate in the creation of electrical project briefings and presentations

 

The Person

  • NEBOSH or IOSH accredited / certified / qualified
  • QA experience and instructional abilities
  • Excellent working knowledge of use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to produce detailed reports and presentations
  • Working knowledge of the appropriate UK legislation and standards
  • Ability to analyse, take ownership and solve problems
  • Able to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility
  • The ability to demonstrate relevant power / electrical / M&E / civil engineering experience
