Job Title: Groundworks Modeller/Land Surveyor

Additionally our client will review and propose complete engineering solutions for difficult development sites due to possessing the capability to combine a range of ground improvement and piling techniques which form the the most appropriate and cost-effective solution. Our client embraces the higher risks associated with ground development by working in partnership with all stakeholders at the very early phase of the process.  As a result they will aim to undertake contracts on a fixed price basis which offers clients cost certainty when planning their budgets. Other “bolt on” bespoke service offerings include (but are not limited to); ground improvement, soil mixing, piled secant retaining walls, bulk excavation, soil stabilisation, remediation, contaminated land and all associated enabling works.

Job Description:

Due to the long term commitment to sustained growth across Scotland and the UK the company now wishes to appoint a Groundworks Modeller / Land Surveyor to assist in their further ambitious expansion plans. The position will provide support to the engineering / project / site management teams to enable accurate setting out, accurate quantities / volumes of materials, all plant requirements and timely site mobilisation.

The Role

 

  • Verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted on site
  • Search legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information on boundaries in areas to be surveyed
  • Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, lines, and other characteristics of terrain to produce accurate volumetric information
  • Prepare and maintain maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed
  • Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys
  • Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features
  • Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using Leica, LSS, Total Station, theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS) and extensive us of AutoCAD (2D & 3D) to interpret drawings, designs, project programmes and scopes of works etc
  • Record the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or ground features
  • Coordinate with the engineering, project teams and any others stakeholders concerned with contracts
  • Establish fixed points using geodetic and engineering instruments
  • Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements
  • Analyse survey objectives and specifications to prepare necessary reports which enable accurate setting out, accurate quantities of materials and plant required and timely site mobilisation 
  • Where necessary, survey bodies of water to determine navigable channels and to secure data for construction of breakwaters, piers or other marine structures              
  • Direct aerial or drone surveys of specified areas
  • Conduct research in surveying and mapping methods using knowledge of techniques of photogrammetric map compilation and electronic data processing
