Job Title: Health & Safety Manager

Salary/Rate: £40,000 - £45,000 plus bonus

Job Description:

 

Due to continued and sustained growth, the need has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to take total accountability in facilitating compliance with legislative, corporate and client requirements in relation to health and safety management.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, organisation, control, monitoring and review of Health and Safety arrangements to enable the company to successfully undertake its operations

Key Tasks

  • To ensure that the requirements of the management system are being applied on site and administrative offices, by means of inspection, audits and review meetings in accordance with company policies, procedures and BS EN ISO accreditation requirements (9001:2015, 14001:2015, 18001:2007)
  • Monitoring and facilitating compliance to the management systems, policies, procedures and the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001: 2015, BS EN ISO 14001: 2015 and BS OHSAS 18001:2007
  • Provide information, training and instruction and task-specific advice to operations and management
  • Training and induction of staff into the documented management systems
  • Raising HSE awareness and responsibility throughout the company
  • Contribute to the review and revision of HSE policies, plans, documented procedures and forms
  • To lead accident / investigation and implementation, supporting project managers/teams investigation to ensure timely investigation and implementation of effective improvement / preventive measures
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement

 

Required Skills / Expertise

 

  • Demonstrable experience and achievements in a similar role
  • Relevant H&S experience in Civil Engineering and / or construction
  • Demonstrable experience of completing audits and inspections
  • A working knowledge of current and impending health & safety legislation
  • An understanding of the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001: 2015, BS EN ISO 14001: 2015 and BS OHSAS 18001:2007
  • Experience within the road and sewerage sector highly desirable
    Good presentation, written, analytical and IT skills
  • Demonstrable self-motivation and high personal professional standards
  • Confident communication skills
  • Excellent employer references
  • NEBOSH and IOSH qualified
  • Audit / inspection experience
  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential
