Job Description:

This challenging and exciting opportunity, based from home or any of the company’s network of offices closest to your home location, requires an individual with a technical background and proven experience in taking the lead for contracts within the foundations, groundworks, remediation, earthworks or piling sectors.

 

Due to an increase in contract awards, a significant forward order workload, and a dedication to continued profitable, ambitious and long-term growth across the UK, our client is now seeking to appoint a Contracts Manager. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will have responsibility for managing and co-ordinating the technical, operational and commercial aspects of all projects undertaken, including management of sub-contractors, and a directly employed team of Project Managers, Contracts Engineers, Supervisors and all Site Personnel. 

 

You will possess a demonstrable track record of experience in a similar role within the piling, foundations or ground and geotechnical engineering arena. You will be responsible to assist, support and lead in the day-to-day management of operational activities including; client liaison, management of technical, operational and commercial elements, and the safe, profitable and timely delivery of all contracts, works, projects and schemes. Additionally, your duties will be reviewed and increased, over time, in line with the successful candidate’s natural development and career progression.

 

The Role

  • To direct contracts and projects with a hands-on approach, and in an efficient and safe manner, ensuring completion on time and within budget
  • Take managerial responsibility to review and guide operations through all phases of the contract lifecycle, both with clients and internal teams
  • Attend site meetings with clients and key stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure the smooth delivery of contracts
  • Inspect works in progress to ensure they conform to HSEQ procedures and project specifications, and are being carried out in accordance with the correct design procedures
  • Liaise directly with the design and estimating teams to resolve pre-construction challenges
  • Ensure HSEQ plans, RAMS and contract programmes are prepared for individual contracts, and all in accordance with company policy
  • Attend regular meetings with your team to report on projects, and provide guidance in regards to proposals and recommendations as required
  • Ensure the commercial team are provided with all relevant information, documentation and instructions to support contract variations
  • Ensure all projects are planned and executed strictly in accordance with company policy, whilst maintaining and improving the professional and progressive image of the company
  • Develop and implement plans for the mobilisation and running of contracts, ensuring that all goals are either achieved or bettered with an emphasis upon service delivery, and ultimately effectively manage all activities with regards to operations and construction activities

 

The Person

  • You will possess a relevant Degree (Civil, Structural, Geotechnical) or be suitably qualified through experience
  • To have a proven track record in hands on contracts and projects management within the foundations, groundworks, remediation, earthworks or piling sectors
  • To have run contracts with a diplomatic and pragmatic approach, but also with a hands-on attitude to clients, sub-contractors and people management
  • To have had first-hand experience of contracts management, and therefore able to demonstrate a tenacious, lead from the front approach, whilst also having previous experience of working in a client end user focused environment
  • To have experience of a variety of foundations, piling and ground engineering techniques 
  • Good levels of experience at both pre and post contract stage
