Job Description:

This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with an engineering background and experience taking the lead for the delivery of projects on site within the civil or structural engineering or construction sectors, either as a Project Manager or Engineer.

 

Due to continued growth and an ambitious expansion plan our client now wishes to appoint a Project Manager within their Structural Engineering division. The position will be based from the South Yorkshire head offices, and be responsible for the delivery of contracts throughout the region.

 

The Project Manager will ensure all the company’s client requirements are met or bettered, and each project is successfully and safely delivered on time and within budget. You will be responsible for the planning, programming and mobilisation of all works and sites, including organising the various professional resource required for each project, ensuring that safety and quality standards are achieved, whilst monitoring sub-contractors and also taking responsibility for the financial performance of each scheme. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in the management of projects from within the UK civil engineering and construction industry, and ideally possess a good understanding of civil / structural engineering contracts.

 

The Role

 

  • Management of multiple projects and sites throughout the entire lifecycle, from initial liaison with clients and pre-construction teams, through to project delivery and final account
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders, developing close working relationships and ensuring clients are kept aware of project progress and updates
  • Resourcing of subcontractors and internal staff to meet project delivery targets
  • Overseeing and managing teams of project staff assigned to each contract 
  • Liaison with Site Managers or Engineers to organise support required to achieve KPI's
  • Ensuring that statutory and legislative requirements are met including the production and implementation of RAMS, CDM, and strict adherence to HSEQ processes
  • Financial control of schemes, from initial stages to final payment, ensuring all costs are captured
  • Completion and ownership of all project documentation, including various aspects of the approval stages of schemes
  • Minimise project risks, initiating corrective or preventative measures if required, and provide project reports to the Operations Director for all deliverables
  • Developing and implementing management plans and programmes for projects, taking into account available resource, labour, plant, materials and any other requirements
  • Leading and motivating multiple project delivery teams, and monitoring progress against the plan or programme
  • Managing project budgets and costs alongside the commercial team, whilst always maintaining clear communication with all involved stakeholders and the organisation as a whole

 

 

The Person

 

  • A tertiary level of education or qualification is ideal, and preferably within a civil or structural engineering or construction related discipline, however demonstrable practical experience is equally attractive
  • You will possess experience of a wide variety of schemes and projects, preferably including structures or structural engineering works
  • Able to demonstrate sound commercial acumen, with the ability to delegate responsibility as necessary
  • Offer successful client management and liaison techniques
  • Excellent time management skills, being able to effectively prioritize and delegate against challenging deadlines
  • Open to new ideas, not set in your ways, with an ability to think laterally
  • Ensuring maximization of financial return, whilst minimizing maintaining and developing relationships via service levels and quality of the project management process
  • Clear written, verbal, presentation, organisation and communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, as well as in a team environment
