Job Title: Scaffolding General Manager

Salary/Rate: £60,000 - £70,000

Job Description:

This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with a strong technical background and demonstrable experience in taking the lead of business, divisional, regional, general or operations management activities within the scaffolding sector.

Due to continued and ambitious expansion plans, an abundant forward order workload, and the desire to maintain their market leading status, our client now wishes to appoint an experienced General Manager. The position will report to the Operations Director and take the lead accountability for the overall performance, growth and development of our client’s North East division.

 

The Role

  • Develop and implement a business plan that supports an acceptable annual budget for the division, both in terms of revenue and profit
  • Utilise existing management tools or develop others to monitor the division’s financial performance against budget, and influence or direct where necessary, and to produce all financial reforecasts for the board of directors where necessary and as required
  • Demonstrate a strategic approach to maintaining and improving the divisional business with specific accountability for enhancing the service provision to existing clients, whilst simultaneously expanding the customer base
  • Lead and encourage the achievement of divisional and company objectives in line with established standards, policies, and procedures
  • Ensuring company standards, values and service delivery are maintained through effective management and motivation of employees, encouraging them to be proactive and to perform their roles to the expected standards
  • You will be able to make an immediate impact upon the business with an established understanding of all cycles of business, operations and general management, whilst regularly reporting to the directors on progress
  • You should be outgoing with excellent negotiation, communication and presentation skills, and possess the ability to form long term relationships with clients, internal teams and employees, and external stakeholders of all levels
  • You will provide opportunity to increase the number of enquiries, leading to an increase in successful contract awards to meet the overall business turnover target
  • You will add valued input with pre-contract negotiations and terms and conditions
  • You will liaise with clients to identify opportunities for technical support to their business, and be fully conversant with the design capabilities, technical innovations, operational processes and procedures in order to better understand requirements and opportunities
  • You will support the bidding process and be an integral part of the wider business development team to provide support to the broader process of work winning strategy, ensuring that company win themes are clearly defined and articulated

 

The Person

 

  • Possess 5-10 years’ senior management experience of frontline construction within the scaffolding sector
  • Demonstrable expertise of senior leadership, motivational people management skills, and client liaison and negotiation, thus capable of translating strategic intent into immediate successful delivery
  • Business development experience is also desirable, offering a track record of business growth through various means
  • Excellent financial acumen, including forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis is a pre-requisite
  • A track record of influencing and stakeholder management skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal, communications and presentation skills
  • Demonstrable success in delivering complex outsourcing projects to financial close
  • A strong sense of urgency, with a desire to succeed and grow with a progressive organisation
